City Revises Masking Policy in Its Facilities

Announcement

City of Tucson issued the following announcement on Mar. 10.

With the support of Tucson's Mayor and Council, City Manager Michael Ortega announced yesterday, March 9, that he is revising the masking mandate for people working in or utilizing City facilities due to the declining number of COVID-19 cases and guidance from the CDC and Pima County Health Department. Starting Monday, March 14, masks will be recommended, but not required, in all City facilities. Masks are encouraged when it's impossible to maintain a 6-foot distance from others and for those with immune system deficiencies. While the new policy is a revision of the mask mandate, it can be revised and reinstated later if health conditions warrant. Per CDC guidance, masks are still required when riding on public transit.
