University of Arizona Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.
The Wildcats and Lopes have met four times total with the first meeting between the two schools taking place on Feb. 13, 2017. Arizona took down GCU 7-0 on Jan. 19, 2021, in their last meeting.

Encore – Last season was a banner year for the Cats as they reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. Arizona also finished the season with a program-record 21 wins and finished second in the Pac-12 – the best finish in program history.
Coachin' It – Over his five years at Arizona, Clancy Shields has proven himself to be one of the top tennis coaches in the nation. Along with engineering the Wildcat's turnaround, Shields has picked up a number of coaching awards:

In the Rankings – Coming off a program-first Sweet 16 bid, the Wildcats are ranked 15th in the preseason ITA polls. They join three other Pac-12 programs in the top-25: USC (9th), Stanford (16th) and UCLA (25th). Individually, sophomore Herman Hoeyeraal checks in at 53rd.
Bringing Home the Hardware - Following a historic 2020-21 campaign, Arizona picked up some hardware along the way.

The Wildcats continue their Spring Season with a top-15 showdown against No. 3 Texas and a matchup against #27 Pepperdine. The Cats and Longhorns are set to throwdown on Friday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. (MST) at Lanelle Robson Tennis Center before Arizona heads to Malibu, Calif., to take on the Wave on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.
