Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and Tucson City Council recently approved $2.5 million in grants for small businesses and nonprofits.

Additionally, $3 million was approved for workers and families that have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

The grant program, which is under the We Are One|Somos Uno Resiliency Fund, will allocate a total of $2 million to small businesses and $500,000 to nonprofit organizations.

The YWCA of Southern Arizona (YWCA) and the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) have teamed up to help review grant applications and to distribute the funds to eligible organizations.

The YWCA will manage the small business grants, giving up to $10,000 to eligible companies who need help staying afloat.

The CFSA will oversee nonprofit continuity grants, giving up to $20,000 to nonprofits to assist with their work in helping the community.

Citizens can apply for financial assistance grants through the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona. The application process began on Aug. 19 and will continue until Sept. 9.
