Gov. Doug Ducey recently joined forces with Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman to gather resources to help parents when the 2020-21 school year begins.
The new “Arizona: Open for Learning” program provides more options for Arizona parents. Additionally, the plan ensures students receive a full academic year of education.
The program invests a total of $440 million in federal funds to schools, Ducey said. The program also gives local school officials public health guidance so they can keep students and educators safe.
"Schools that follow the guidelines that we are presenting are going to have access to these funds," Ducey said in a recent press release. "As I was coming into this press conference, I saw discussions around additional funding from Congress as well. That's a possibility."
To qualify for Open for Learning funding, schools must have a reopening plan that involves on-site learning and support services.
