Arizona State Representative Rachel (Jones) Keshel, a Republican elected in 2023 to represent the state’s 17th House District, posted a series of statements on her X (formerly Twitter) account on September 12, 2025. The posts addressed concerns about youth indoctrination, higher education, and comments made by a Tucson City Council member.
In her first post at 14:39 UTC, Jones expressed concern over the state of young people today: “There is a generation of brainwashed youth and young adults who are likely too far gone. God getting ahold of their hearts and minds is their only hope. So we pray for revival.”
A few minutes later, at 14:42 UTC, she commented on the role of universities in shaping students’ beliefs: “Universities are brainwashing and radicalizing regular kids. Make trade schools great again.”
Later that day at 15:05 UTC, Jones called for public action regarding remarks from Tucson City Council member Benny Gomez. She wrote: “Time to rally again and let the Tucson City Council know that we do NOT approve of this type of rhetoric coming from one of their own. Benny Gomez should be ashamed of himself. Call (520) 791-4040 to tell them how you feel and email this loser at: benny.gomez2@tucsonaz.gov”
Jones succeeded Jennifer Pawlik as representative for Arizona’s 17th House District after being elected in 2023.
