There were 3,975 American Indian or Alaskan Native students enrolled in Pima County schools in the 2024-25 school year, a 0.7% increase over the 3,949 American Indian or Alaskan Native students in the previous school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Pima County welcomed 141,176 students at the time. Among them, American Indian or Alaskan Native students made up 2.8% of the student body making them the third least represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 281 schools in Pima County, Indian Oasis Primary Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian or Alaskan Native students in the 2024-25 school year, with a total of 292 students, making up 87.2% of the school’s total student body.

Arizona’s public schools ranked 49th in the country, according to a WalletHub study, with low marks for class size, performance, funding, safety, and teacher qualifications.
