FOIA Request to The University of Arizona regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.
The Tucson Standard, a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to The University of Arizona. The request seeks detailed records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This inquiry was made under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
The request specifically asks for records or reports containing various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly wage), and employment type (full-time or part-time). It is acknowledged that not all fields may be present in every record; however, the request emphasizes the production of all responsive records regardless of completeness. In cases where portions of records are exempt from disclosure, it is requested that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.
The Tucson Standard is part of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws. This affiliation underscores their commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions.
We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
