Congressman Juan Ciscomani recently hosted a roundtable in Tucson with leaders from various sectors to discuss the impact of H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). The event brought together representatives from agriculture, law enforcement, technology, construction, real estate, and small business to examine how the legislation will affect Arizona’s economy, border security, tax policy, and local priorities.

“The One Big Beautiful Bill is about delivering real results for the people of Southern Arizona — strengthening our border, boosting our economy, providing tax relief, and ensuring our communities have the resources they need to thrive,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “Today’s conversation brought together voices from agriculture, law enforcement, technology, construction, real estate, small business owners, and beyond — all highlighting how the One Big Beautiful Bill delivers on permanent tax cuts, secures our border, and spurs economic growth, and how they are committed to making Arizona stronger.”

The roundtable included participants such as Art del Cueto of the National Border Patrol Council; Ben Menges and Nathan Goldman of the Arizona Farm Bureau; Brad Lloyd and Carl Kaufman of Lloyd Construction and Arizona Builders Alliance; Carlos Ruiz of HT Metals; David Godlweski from Southern Arizona Home Builders Association; Dominic Escamilla of Country Financial; Jared Gorshe from Americans For Prosperity – Arizona; Josh Jacobsen of Sunland Foods; Karla Morales from Arizona Technology Council; Kim Davids of Arizona Builders Alliance; Monet Bacs from LIBRE Initiative; Pam Furrie with Association of Mature American Citizens; Paul Parisi representing Our America; Randy Graf with Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce; and Shawn Cote from Tucson Association of Realtors.

During the discussion, Ciscomani outlined OBBBA’s provisions: increased funding for Customs and Border Protection through enhanced technology and staffing for border security measures; regulatory relief for small businesses to support economic growth in key industries across the state; extension of 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions including estate tax relief for farmers and ranchers as well as additional tax benefits for non-profits serving communities. The bill also includes investments in infrastructure projects such as transportation improvements along with water and broadband development throughout Arizona.

Ciscomani emphasized collaboration among federal, state, and local partners was key to achieving these legislative outcomes. He reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to address community needs.

OBBBA passed the U.S. House on July 3rd before being signed into law by President Trump on July 4th. The enactment date marks when new tax provisions take effect.

Juan Ciscomani has represented Arizona’s 6th district in Congress since replacing Ann Kirkpatrick in 2023. In recent elections he defeated Kirsten Engel both in 2022—winning by a margin just over one percentage point—and again in 2024 by a similar close result.
